Hi,
i was just wondering about UHF beams, and gain,in regards to say a 12db base (vert) would it be advantages to perhaps build 2 beams and co-phase them, with winter comming on i was hopeing to work the early morning Inversions that we experiance here.
Kind regards,FT:-P

how far do you want to cover remember this is uhf.
in reference to phaseing you can get phasing harnesses for RFI but concider direct feed to the rx and tx. you would bee suprise the loss in that tx/rx switch.

Richard,
i was opening repeters 400km south of me last year from my old pig hunting truck in the early mornings and talking to operators,we had a morning hook-up for well over a month,i was amazed we done so well.

i know of an operator where i am who has co-phased beams, and he regurly work operators well north of where we live during the winter.

Kind Regards,FT

Hi FT if you are morile then a phased array should give you about 30DB gain but if base then you can't go past a nice big dish. On uhf it could be from 2m to 4.5 m in diameter. these are sharp and require very good alignment. there is one in use at kurragong going south to the boarder if it is still in use for a courrier firm.

have fun
