Hi There,

I'm pretty sure you'll need old DOS software to program your radio. I don't think the Windows programming software Tait has now supports the older firmware versions. I don't have any I'm afraid though.

Sure - it would be easier to buy a new radio, but Tait don't make the T2000 series anymore as this has been replaced by the TM8000 series. Whatever you do, just make sure you get the programming software with the purchase and a programming lead if you need one.

As mentioned, it probably requires the DOS software (sounds like a series 1)
If you upgrade the firmware (either purchase a new pre-programmed firmware EEPROM) or have the current one flashed with the latest version, you could then probably use the windows programming software.

Alternatively, any Tait dealer should be able to program it for you.

Series 2 T2020 with V3.13 firmware?... no way.

My firmware data only goes back as far as 2001, but even then, series 1 T2020's had V4.09

Are you sure it's not a series 1 logic board in a series 2 case, or a series 2 head on a series 1 radio? I see those sorts of configurations all the time.

You can't always believe what's on a label either, as there are quite often changes to radio 'internals' during it's life, after it leaves the factory.

If it is a series 2, you don't need to remove the eeprom, as the firmware is flashed via the Tait windows programming software,

As I said, it's often difficult to tell 'what's inside' however another way to tell the series' apart is the heatsink. Series 1's generally have a black heatsink and series 2, silver. The fins are also shorter on series 1's.

The last firmware version released for series 1 was V4.09 series 1.5 V5.29 series 2 (100 channel) V5.66 (1200 channel) V7.23

You need to be certain what configuration your radio is, before you go fiddling with it, as many have discovered, they can be turned into a doorstop very easily.

What's the full model number (T2020-XXX-XXX) and what do you need programmed in it?

the serial number is 496922, it has only got 5 channels at the moment so i want the 40uhf plus some others if possible, it might be series one cause it has small black fins on back?

Yup - that's series one RF board. The serial number is old. May still have a series 2 board in it though. Have you taken it appart to have a look. A series two logic will have a gate array and a flash micro on it. If it has an EPROM, then you've got a true blue series 1 radio.
