Hello Intruder. How is it different from the IC-F43GT? Not sure as i dont currently own or have any experience with an F43GT. At the moment i have a IC-F40GT. Yes! You will be happy with it.It has acceptable specs as in good frequency coverage. The clone cable needs to be ordered from your local ICOM radio technician/dealer.As regards software this is easily downloaded from the internet. There are two versions for this F40GT commercial handset. The version you need will be Revision 1.0 . Anyway it has a "Dealer Set Mode" feature. What this means is that it will be "Field Programmable". Basically the significance being that you do not need to clone it with your computer when editing frequencies. After "Dealer Set Mode" has been entered frequency editing for transmit/receive can be entered directly via your numbered keypad.CTCSS and DCS tones can also be set up.Channel inhibit,Transmit inhibit plus narrow band function can be enabled from Dealer Mode also.Bells & Whistles? Plently of functionality can be configured via the clone software. If this is your first experience with an ICOM commercial handset i can anticipate that you will be quite impressed. For me to explain the functionality of CS-F30G software would take for ever.YES! It is very involved.Do you have any ICOM dealers in New Mexico? I can be certain that they will only be too happy to submit assistance in response to your enquiries.Would like to mention that transmit modulation on this handset can not be faulted.ICOM radios in general are quite unique as regards modulation quality.Transmit audio is very distinct.
