Greetings to all forum participants.I have submitted all functions that are available in the IC-F2010 'dealer set mode' and 'initial set mode'.The ini set mode items were sourced from my field service manual.Dealer mode adjustments are not indicated in the service manual. These IC-F1000 series have been discontinued.Currently using a new wide/narrow band IC-F2010.
Have been pursuing the hobby for about sixteen years by now.Compared to a lot of old veterans out there i am a relative newcomer and are still on a learning curve. My old F2010 was a wide band only remote set up.Owned it for about twelve years and sold it.Initially i was not aware that a F2010 had dealer mode functions for adjustment.
It would have been on the third year of my uhf hobby when i learnt about this feature. While chatting to another station he was kind enough to notify me that extra parameters were available via this dealer mode.Obviously he made it apparent that function adjustment would be intuitive. So over a period of two months i practiced re-configuring the dealer mode items.
I was totally stunned at all these extra functions. My local dealer would have been aware of this region but had no intention of informing me.Did not have a laptop in those days so i was quite happy for them to re-clone the F2010 when i felt the need for variety. They never even hinted to me that an extra feature could be accessed on the radio.
From a personal analysis i perceive dealer set mode adjustments as very practical and incredibly convenient.Basically this other station mentioned that he would not explain everything to me because we would be there for hours. He indicated that if i kept experimenting time permitting, all procedures would become user friendly.
So henceforth i learnt about the extra features because of this other radio operator. The gentleman only described the [PO] and channel up key power on procedure. As for the other procedures it was smooth sailing and self taught. Please keep in mind that Icom do not have a explanatory article in the field service manual.
