The IC-F610 is compatible with the IC-F40GT handset.Basically a F610 is a base/mobile version of the F40GT.Have recently sold the transceiver.Only used it for about six months.This has been the most brief ownership of a base transceiver.
My initial reason for purchasing it was the design.Also i liked the extra alphanumerics as in 10 characters.Extra programmable assign buttons were a bonus.Did not have the opportunity to perform any long distance transmits with it.
With good conditions prevailing i am certain the F610 is a capable performer.I do not regret parting ways with this model.The memory of it is satisfactory.Managed a few local contacts and did not receive negative modulation reports.The head can not be remoted but the control head has been engineered to allow the display to be inverted.
The other motive on buying this radio was to experiment.Found out exactly what i was seeking.It has loud receive audio.Depending on how it is programmed the F610 is very user friendly to operate.It appears to have effective heat dissipation.The IC-F610 has a "Dealer set mode".
Dealer mode on this rig will only have what i regard as the barest essentials.HA HA HA HA! In comparison my F2010 has a copious amount of items for adjustment in its dealer region.The F610 dealer section will have channel inhibit.Wide or Narrow band is selectable.Ctcss and Dcs tones can be set up.
The receive and transmit frequencies are editable.Frequency coverage is acceptable.Not sure what the lower and upper limits are for a IC-F610.Never had a chance to perform frequency editing and testing to see what it would accept via the "Dealer mode edit".
I do not have a OPC1122 lead so henceforth have no experience with cloning the radio.But i gave the CS-F500 series application a perusal.To me it seems to be logically structured.Whatever functions are in a F610 will also apply to the IC-F40GT handset.
Was it visually pleasing? Yes i regarded it as easy on the eye.This model has a beautiful design.The display has plenty of info.The nine program buttons are backlit.Especially in a car at night this IC-F610 presents quite a picture.
