View Full Version : Tait 2040
Hi folks, I just purchased a Tait 2040 Trunked UHF radio from ebay (not sure if it was a good idea afterall). So I was wondering if a kind sole could point me in the direction to obtain the software needed to put it back to a conventional radio, or am I going to get an answer about the radio I don't want to hear. All replies greatlt appreciated. Cheers from Newcastle....MARK

Hi Mark, the standard programming software allows you to put 10 conventional channels in the radio. It will never be a T2020 without changing over the Logic PCB for a T2020 logic board. If you can't find the software on this site let me know.

Hi Phil, Many thanks for your reply...greatly appreciated. Sounds like you know what you are talking about (GREAT).
I'm not sure that the software at this stage as obviously I am not sure what I am doing. I mean is it worth the hassle of getting the s/w and buying the cable and trying to do it myself or do I just pay some tech to do it for me. Really 10 channels is enough for me as I really only want road channels, truckies, emergency and will only ever program it once? Know what I mean???
The other issue I have is that it does not have a db9??? socket to plug into anyway there is just a blank cap where it should be? So what would you recommend I do???
Many thanks for your time?
Mark

Hi Mark, Sorry I haven't been back regularly. The radio is programmed via the microphone socket. The programming cable has a DB9 at the PC end and RJ12 for the mic end. There is a small chip in the DB9 end to step up TTL level signals to RS232.
The software is available on this web site if you are a paid up member (send an email to the administrator).
Send me a private message if you need any help?
Cheers,
Phill.
