Radio's to receive phone calls in Taxi's

Hi all just have a question reguarding radios for use in our local taxi service. At the moment they have installed Maxon radios and they are dropping out all the time even in town. They drive 10kms out of town and have no reception at all. I have done a swr on the aerial and it came in at 4 (I was told 1.5 is the optimum) I have even put a new rfi aerial nad the swr went to 5. Does anyone know what could be wrong or suggest a good radio to replace them. cheers Brian

Hi Brian,

Determine the radio band (Low VHF? High VHF? UHF? ) and determine whether you have the correct antenna for that band... also stating that, make sure the SWR meter you have is for that band :)

Thanks will look into that tomorrow. The swr meter I have does all frequencies so it should be ok. cheers Brian
