Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with a DOS software problem in that the Data entered into the Conventional Channels Fields refuses to be accepted and simply disappears when the next section is selected.

I remember reading a post about this problem of the changes not "Sticking" but have been unable to track down where and when it was posted.

It appears to do it on all the various versions and also when running in Pure Dos mode, i.e Boot straight to MS Dos from start up.

Alternatively if anyone happens to know which version of the Binary Firmware would enable a Series One T2040 currently Running V4.06 to utilize the Windows Based Programming Software i would be very grateful for the info.

All replies gratefully received.

Regards.

Sorry, can't help with the disappearing data, as I'm not aware of the problem.
Perhaps Socrates knows? (G'day btw Socrates)

As for the firmware for the T2040 to run on windows SW, you are out of luck as the windows SW only supports series 2 T2040

Thanks for the info, Digiteyes.
Will investigate this glitch with the Dos software further.

Hi Chris,

Is the conventional information that you enter only disappearing when you're trying to program a trunked T2000 product. If so, then there may be an issue with the software not accepting the changes because you don't have a HASP plug installed and the software is not running in FACTORY mode.

The other thing could be you're trying to alter data after reading a radio and the PGM and firmware are not quite compatible. This could throw up some curly ones. The only way around this issue is to create a database from scratch.

Let me know how you go.

Hi Chris,
Are you entering a password or just pressing enter?

Phill.

Hello Phil,

I am using the Password that the Tait Engineers in the Radio's Country of Birth would be Colloquially known as.
Me as well, for that matter.
I have tried using it both ways but without the Password the Conventional page and the majority of the other pages wouldn't open.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Regards.

Thanks Socrates,

Have sent you a P.M clarifying the Original Fuzzy description of the symptoms.

Chris,

As Socrates mentioned, there may be software/firmware incompatability issues and to set up the program data without reading the radio first.

I have just tried 2040 V2.77 software, which is the last DOS version released for the T2040 and had no problems programming conventional channels.
I also tried V2.73 which also worked fine.

Are you entering frequencies that are within the limits of the model? eg: T2040-3XX 136-174MHz

Hi Chris,

I just PM'd you back, but for other readers who may not know, in order to add and delete new channel information in old DOS Tait PGM, you press F2 to add a channel and F3 to delete a channel.

Not sure if that is the issue here however.

Thanks Socrates,

As always you are the Fountain of all Tait Knowledge.

Your info has fixed the problem and the Software is now behaving as it should.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide this helpful info.

Thanks DigitEyes,

I thought i had checked everything possible and the fault was with the Software but luckily the Clever members of this Site managed to work out what i was doing incorrectly.

I too found that the radio would respond to the various versions of the Software which surprised me as previous experience with the Dos Software normally only gives One Option per installed Firmware version.

Thanks for your Help,

Regards,

Chris S.
