Hello,

I have a TAIT TM8200 and I am having a problem with getting a pc to connect to my radio, when I connect my radio (power on) with cables to my pc com port 1, software open, com port 1 selected, and then try to read from radio to pc after a long pause then a error appears.

(There has been a communication error with the radio (Communication Timeout). check the radio is powered on and is attached correctly to pc, and the correct COM port is selected)

I have tried this on serval different pc running win XP an also tried making software compatible with WIN 95 / win 98 me and so on still no joy. Here is some more details I hope this extra info helps

Radio : TAIT TM8200 (TMAB22-H600 450-530mhz)
Radio with
FW: QMA2F_std_2.05.00.0002
HW: TMAB22-H600_0108
TMAH6C / 27 Jan 2006

Software:
TAIT TM8200 Programming Application 2.1.0.0
From UHFWORLD

Cables:
TAIT Programming cable (T2000 Series)
TAIT Adaptor for TM8200 series

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

You don't need an adaptor. The T2000 programming cable works directly with the TM8250. Are you using a genuine T2000 progamming cable with the MAX 232 IC? If you are using a cable with just jumper links and no electronics, that is a likely cause.

Thankyou for your Advice,

I will have to check when I get home tonight.
I am 98% it has electronics I brought it from radioworks com au

Would the no communication between pc & radio have anything to do with the version of software App being 2.01 and the firmware on the radio being newer at 2.05 ? it something I spotted after rereading my post? or is more likly to be the cables?

Thankyou

Cheers

I have Joy at last, just used T2000 cable straight (No need for the TM8200 adaptor, Thanks digiteyes), then click read icon and beep from my radio, pc reading radio and a couple more beeps from radio it was done.

If only all radio problems could be solved that easy.

Digiteyes is correct when he says that you can use the T2000 lead with the TM8200. However, do remember that the RJ sockets are different between the T2000 and the TM8200. Over time the T2000 lead will become sloppy in the TM8200 RJ socket. Best you hold the programming lead in place when programming to prevent any communication errors from occuring.
